Ana Inés Alfaro de Hegedus is a senior associate of Fischer & Schickendantz (, one of Uruguay’s leading law firms. As an attorney, she provides legal advice in the firm’s Litigation Unit, as well as in the firm’s Corporate Unit, advising multinationals and individual investors and representing them in trials.

In her 14 years as a litigation attorney, Ana has accumulated experience in a vast array of local as well as cross-border deals

  • advising Minera Aratiri (Zamin Ferrous) on real estate and corporate tax law, including the negotiation and purchase of land for the project. Minera Aratiri is the largest foreign direct investment project in Uruguay´s history (USD 3 Bn). 2009 – ongoing.
  • advising on corporate and litigation matters Breeders & Packers, Uruguay, British-owned leading meat processing company in Uruguay, 2012-ongoing
  • advising on regional (Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay) reorganization and partial divestiture of retail and logistics operations for PVH Corp. (Calvin Klein), 2012-ongoing
  • advising ICA Mexico on the public offering for a private penitentiary center in Montevideo, Uruguay, 2013
  • advising La Rural, Centro de Emprendimientos y Espectaculos, Argentina, on the public bid to develop a business and tourist center in Punta del Este, Uruguay, 2014

Ana graduated from the University of the Republic of Uruguay in 2000. Ana is fluent in Spanish and English.

Ana was born in Montevideo, and has lived in the United States. Her overseas work experience spans deals in the United States and several countries of South America.

She is head professor in Business Law in the Catholic University of Uruguay and lectures also in the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce. She has published several articles and has been co-author of several books.
